Crossing the border: From the short film to the feature film.
Every tale is a journey. Some journeys have a fixed goal, some wander. Some lose themselves in the journey. Some find themselves. Some stay within established borders. Some transgress.
The journey from making shorts to making a feature film demands the crossing of many borders. It is not only the length of the journey that now matters, but also the depth and expansiveness of its aspirations. Let’s take this journey together into unknown human depths, unbounded nature and the infinite pathways that could lead us to cross the various borders from the short to the feature film.
We’ll draw and study various maps that might help our journey: we’ll look at how theme, character and story, gesture, movement, rhythms, as well as shot, montage and mis-en-scene, could help us cross the borders between the making of a short and the making of a feature.ABOUT ANUP SINGH
